Easy 2-Ingredient Caramel Sauce

I came up with this caramel sauce one night when I was craving something sweet but had zero interest in turning on the oven. We were out of ice cream, out of chocolate—basically out of anything that resembled dessert. I was about two seconds from giving up when I spotted a jar of almond butter and some maple syrup in the pantry.

I didn’t have a plan, just a whisk and low expectations. But after a minute or two of mixing, something kind of magical happened?? The mixture got glossy, fluffy, and somehow... caramelly? It wasn’t just good—it was really good. Rich, silky, and just the right amount of sweet.
Now it’s one of those back-pocket recipes I make all the time. It takes two minutes, uses two ingredients, and makes you feel like you’ve pulled off something way fancier than you actually have. It’s perfect over fruit, on toast, on ice cream (obviously) or straight off the spoon—no judgment.
Ingredients:
½ cup nut butter (peanut, almond, or cashew)
½ cup maple syrup
Instructions: Whisk together for about 2 minutes, until the mixture becomes fluffy and smooth. If it feels too thick, whisk in water 1 teaspoon at a time until it reaches your ideal consistency.
Optional upgrades:
Add a pinch of flaky salt
Stir in a splash of vanilla for extra depth
UM, YUM! I can't believe this is so easy!
